BIOGRAPHY / Filmography

Robert C. Stone is an accomplished filmmaker, director, producer, cinematographer, writer, editor and audio technician whose work spans a 42-year career in film and video production.

He recently co-produced the documentary feature films “The Quietest Place on Earth”(2014) and “When the Mountain Calls: Nepal • Tibet • Bhutan”(2012), as well serving as its film and sound editor – nominated for a 2013 Emmy® Award. Both films are airing on public television.

Also in 2014, Robert was the co-producer, co-director, cinematographer and editor of “From Trauma to Peace,” the compelling story of how Rwandans are healing themselves from the trauma of the 1994 genocide.

In 2010, he was the director, co-producer, cinematographer and editor of “Taylor Camp” an award-winning documentary about a treehouse commune in the early 1970’s on Kaua’i and the nostalgic reflections of the camp’s former residents over 30 years later.

In 2009, Robert was co-producer, cinematographer and post-production supervisor on the epic six-and-a-half-hour Hawaiian documentary “Native of Owhyhee,” which tells the story of how Hawaii turned from an ancient “pagan” society into one of the most literate Christian nations in the world of the 1800’s.

In 2004, Robert co-produced, filmed and edited the film festival and Emmy® award-winning documentary “Kiho‘alu - Keola Beamer.” He also produced and was editor and cinematographer on the Emmy® Award winning documentary “Bhutan: Taking the Middle Path to Happiness” (2007). Robert has worked on a total of eight films that have aired on PBS.

Living on Maui since 1995, Robert was awarded the Governor of Hawaii’s Kilohana Award in 1998 for Outstanding Volunteerism. He is also a winner of multiple Telly® Awards, a program that honors the very best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs.
